Ken Fredette

Attorney Kenneth Fredette has practiced law for over 25 years in Newport with meetings throughout the state by appointment.  

An attorney in private practice, he has also taught at Eastern and Southern Maine Community Colleges. Ken Fredette is also a member of the Maine Air National Guard and has served for twelve years as a Judge Advocate General (JAG).


Ken Fredette was nominated to the Human Rights Commission by Gov. Baldacci and approved by the Maine Senate. He served in the Maine House of Representatives from 2010-2018, serving the residents of five rural communities in Penobscot County. He was selected by his peers to serve as the House Republican Leader for six years, and was a candidate for Governor in 2018. 


He graduated valedictorian from East Grand High School. He earned a B.S. in accounting at the University of Maine at Machias, a Master’s degree in Public Policy and Management with a concentration in Government Finance from USM’s Edmund Muskie School for Public Service, and a Juris Doctor from the University of Maine School of Law. 


He also earned a Master’s degree in Public Administration from Harvard University’s John F. Kennedy School of Government.


He is a member of the Fraternal Brotherhood of Masons and the Knights of Columbus, and is past President/Vice-President of the Board of Directors of the Sebasticook Valley Federal Credit Union.
